Mom and the kids explore our Beautiful California Coast.
I wanted to show my teens more of California. We flew to San Francisco and part of this trip was to stay in the seaside town of Santa Cruz where I learned to surf in the 50’s and early 60’s. The date that we arrived in Santa Cruz was the 4th of July. The traffic was unreal but the scenery made up for it. We arrived into this college town mid afternoon. I remember going to the Boardwalk when I was very young so before checking into our hotel we cruised the beach. This was a big mistake on the 4th of July everyone wanted to do this. While we were crusing the boulevard in our rented something the kids saw the The Boardwalk. I did not tell them that Santa Cruz had an amusement park on the beach. Once we got through town we went to our hotel. I wanted a hotel that was NOT on the beach but in a more quiet area of Santa Cruz. A few short blocks from town I found us The Babbling Brook Inn the perfect bed and breakfast. Nestled among the redwoods of Santa Cruz is The Babbling Brook Inn. When we drove up we heard the rushing water of a cascading waterfall and meandering creek that winds it way through the quiet Babbling Brook Inn. The Babbling Brook Inn is a romantic oasis, offering a unique and rustic retreat within the vibrant beach side community of Santa Cruz. The resident manager Tom Cole cooked up a great breakfast and made sure we enjoyed our stay. We had to charge up an Ipod and he handed over his charger and said to just drop it off at breakfast.
Built in 1909 on the foundation of an 1870’s tannery, a 1790’s grist mill and a 2000 year old Indian fishing village, the Babbling Brook Inn is the oldest and largest Bed and Breakfast Inn of the Santa Cruz area. The may be only a three star rated hotel but The 13 rooms are decorated in styles that represent the works of Old World artists and poets- Monet, Tennyson, Degas, Cezanne and Renoir. Every room has a cozy feather bed, television-VCR and delightful views of the gardens and brook. Most rooms have gas fireplaces and one or two person whirlpool tubs. The Artist’s Retreat has a spacious deck with a recessed hot tub overlooking the gardens and brook.
This luxury inn offers private balconies and a complimentary signature breakfast.
